Ivan De Silva, BA MDiv ThM
With his high-energy and practical teaching style, Ivan’s aim as a biblical tour leader and teacher is to connect your understanding of the biblical story to the land where it unfolded, and to highlight how the geography of the Holy Lands makes them a key character in the Bible’s narrative.
Ivan is convinced that a trip to the Holy Lands is essential for a clear understanding of the biblical story and he is looking forward to leading you on a journey of discovery and enlightenment where eyes will be opened to reading the Bible in a new way. Ivan also believes that a visit to the Middle East will enable a better understanding of the current conflict between Israel and the surrounding nations. On the tour, we will hear different sides of the conflict in order to better understand the issues involved and the complexity of the problem.
Ivan has been teaching Religious Studies at Trinity Western University (TWU, Langley, B.C.) for over 20 years, including leading several student travel study groups to Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Greece and Italy. Ivan also instructs at Pacific Life Bible College (PLBC, Surrey). Ivan has recently retired from career as a detective with the Vancouver Police Department, where his faith and trust in the Bible were put to the test in 27 years of service. Now Ivan can dedicate more to his first love and passion, church teaching ministry and building the biblical knowledge of the body of Christ.
Ivan is often joined on his SBT Biblical Travel Tours by his wife Carol, who assists as Tour Coordinator.
